Chitipa East Constituency legislator Kezzie Msukwa has announced his intention to stand as first vice president for the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) at its elective convention slated for August 8-10 this year.

Msukwa’s announcement comes a week after another MCP party member Vitumbiko Mumba also announced his intention to stand on the same position.

Msukwa, currently the party’s regional chairperson responsible for North-North and also the former Government Chief Whip in Parliament, said he is an experienced politician who has served the party for long with loyalty and now time has come for him to occupy the party’s bigger area of jurisdiction by obtaining the party’s first Vice President position so that he should serve the president better.

“We have been in MCP for so long and now it’s time that we stand for top positions. I am confident that I will win,” he said.

Msukwa is one of the country’s top politicians.

He once served as a Minister of Lands.
